Sven Henrik and Bernardine's son Knut Henrik marries the 16-year-old Maria Jacobson in 1894. Maria was born and raised in Gothenburg and is the daughter of one of the teachers Knut Henrik had at the Institute of Commerce. Maria and Knut Henrik move after the wedding to a chic parade floor in Moscow. Knut Henrik and Maria have four children together; two daughters and two sons. When Knut Henrik is later appointed Norwegian consul in Moscow, Maria later becomes consul. She also has time to make a significant impression in Bjertorp's history. When Maria is presented with the drawings for the palace, it seems to her a little silly and not nearly as grand as the salons she has visited in Moscow. She therefore changes the dimensions from cubits to meters and in an instant she has almost doubled the size of the castle. Completed in 1914, it is a private residence, for seven people, on 1954 m2 of living space.
