1833 Bernhardine Kiökemeister is born in Halmstad. Twenty-three years old, she marries farmer Sven Henrik Littorin and in the same year she moves to Västgötasslett and the newly purchased Bjertorp farm property.
Bernhardine Littorin carries with her a warm and heartfelt interest in social issues and too frequent discussions with her husband about starting a domestic school. It is also said that her calm manner and good mood are a beneficial counterbalance to her husband's hot-tempered temper. Bernhardine and Sven Henrik have seven children, two daughters and five sons.
