Nordic Company's finger in the game
Double room with modern combinations in lime green and black. View of the castle park.
Of course, architect Ferdinand Boberg sees it as his civic duty and honorable professional pride to also design the furniture for Bjertorp Castle. Appropriately enough, Boberg is contacted at the same time on another matter. Josef Sachs gives Boberg the commission in 1913 to design Sweden's largest and most luxurious department store; the new Nordiska Kompaniet on Hamngatan. The furniture for NK — and for Bjertorp Castle — is manufactured at NK Möbelverkstad in Nyköping. As a curiosity, in the forties NK launches the Triva furniture series, which is sold in flat packages and can be assembled by the buyer. Today it is something we Swedes associate with a completely different furniture company.
