The calm of the farm storm

Bright lovely double room where Sven-Henrik's ornithology interest is noticeable. View of the castle courtyard.

In 1856, Sven Henrik Littorin's father buys the estate Bjertorp for his agriculturally educated son. Only 23 years old, his son settles on the Vara Plain on the farm, which at that time is in very poor condition. Three years later, he has married his Bernhardine and at the same time succeeded with the piece of art to bring order. In the area there is talk of a pattern farm and Sven Henrik makes himself famous as a man of order where “every thing had its place and everything would be done in due time.” Sven Henrik is engaged in several municipal assignments which later lead to his becoming a Member of Parliament for three years, but his great passion is undoubtedly ornithology.
