Bjertorp Slott in Västergötland, arranged a record number of weddings in 2022 of which some 30 chose to rent the entire castle exclusively for themselves and their guests. Neither inflation nor high electricity prices appear to be stopping wedding and party bookings soaring this year as well.
“It's amazing that there is so much to celebrate and that love is proving stronger than both the pandemic and inflation. It looks like it will be the year of celebrations at the castle this year too! says Victoria Johansson, CEO, Bjertorp Slott.
Bjertorp Slott wants to become Sweden's premier wedding destination. As the country's best-preserved Art Nouveau setting from the early 20th century and a four-hectare castle park, the castle offers many exclusive venues for weddings, dinners and celebrations.
“We have long been a well-known wedding destination in western Sweden but the market has grown and now guests from all over Sweden and large parts of Norway come to us. We understand them, who doesn't want to rent an entire castle for the party, get access to the castle park and our experienced and service-passionate team,” says Victoria Johansson, CEO, Bjertorp Slott, with a smile.
10th anniversary of Bjertorp Castle's drop in nuptials 14/2
On Valentine's Day, February 14, Bjertorp Castle celebrates 10 years of drop-in nuptials. A successful concept arranged in cooperation with Vara Municipality. At most, 40 couples have come to the castle in one day to consecrate themselves in a civil or ecclesiastical manner on the drop in. Maria Karlsson, civil marriage officiant in Vara Municipality, has been there every year since it started.
“It's amazing that so many brides get the opportunity to get married in such a beautiful and special environment. I remember the first year when we were hoping for someone to come at all but when we got to the castle there was already a queue! , says Maria Karlsson, wedding officiant, Vara kommun.
“It is thanks to our close cooperation with local actors that the drop-in weddings at Bjertorp Slott will be so good. Conditori Nordpole, named one of Sweden's best pastry shops by the White Guide, has been with us from the start. Every year, new flavors and creations are tested on the wedding cakes. The cakes are definitely a very appreciated part of our drop-in weddings, says Victoria Johansson, CEO, Bjertorp Slott.
Unique wedding fair with show 12/2
In addition to the drop-in wedding ceremony on Valentine's Day, Bjertorp Slott will host a unique wedding fair on February 12. The wedding day is called the which is a more apt description on what guests can expect: live music, show, exhibitors and fashion show among others.
“We have created a wedding fair where we let guests feel, smell, taste and listen through the day. It has been important for us that visitors really get to experience a taste of what a wedding day at the castle can feel like, says Lizette Laurell, Event Coordinator, Bjertorp Slott.
“Instead of gathering the exhibitors in one hall, we have chosen to let guests visit them in different parts of the castle. In this way, we hope that visitors will have a more personal and inspiring insight into what the exhibitors have to offer,” says Lizette Laurell, wedding coordinator, Bjertorp Slott.
