Eleven coffee with gold edge for seniors at Bjertorp Slott

What is a luxurious morning coffee at the castle, right?
Well, it was absolutely wonderful for the seniors who visited Bjertorp Slott on 3 July to enjoy a joint electric coffee with seven kinds of cakes.

The idea for the initiative was to give older people in the local area a day of both gold edge and community.

In order to reach out to the right people, Bjertorp contacted Slotts Event Manager Lizette Laurell, Vara Kommuns Eldercare and the Swedish Church, both of whom were very positive about the initiative. The rumor of a “luxury electric coffee at the castle” quickly spread among the seniors.

The day started with the guests receiving a warm welcome to the castle with beautiful music from the wing in the castle hall by Karin Ekenvi, the Church of Sweden. Coffee was served and seven kinds of cakes were served in the castle's elegant marble-clad music hall. The hall was filled with laughter and laughter from the seniors who shared stories while enjoying coffee.

During the years, the castle's CEO Victoria Johansson told the castle's interesting history. Most of the seniors contributed their own stories and good questions. Five of the ladies had extra intriguing stories to tell from the time they attended Bjertorp household school in the late 60s.

— We made up many innocent activities, including I remember that the Ekporten was locked at 9pm but we quickly found a passage in the castle cellar to sneak out and in through... Mrs Helgesson smiles as she tells the story and most of the ladies nod giggling in agreement.

After coffee, guests looked around the castle's lounges, dining rooms and several hotel rooms, all of which feature an exciting chapter from the saga of Bjertorp Castle.

98 seniors left the castle cafe satisfied and satisfied with a big smile on their faces, and most importantly, many acquaintances richer — can it be more wonderful than that?

The event is one of several activities that Bjertorp Slott has carried out within its social sustainability work. Over the years, several support efforts and events have been carried out, including for the local organization Our Beloved Children, Suicide Zero and Hand in Hand. In autumn 2023, a breakfast event with the organization Friends is also planned.
