Join us for bird-watching at dawn. See you at Lake Hornborg and watch the spectacle together with guide Anki Rundquist.

You will make your way to the crane dance, Lake Hornborg just in time for the sunrise at 06:00 and the deafening “singing” of the cranes. On the spot, guide Anki meets you and tells you about the life of the cranes and we get to enjoy the spectacle and the unique plateau mountain landscape and the exciting history of the area.

The tour takes about 2 hours and you will bring a lunch bag of coffee and buns to enjoy on site. After completing the guided tour, you will return to the castle for our delicious breakfast buffet.

The tour takes place outdoors so think about warm clothing with good shoes. To maximize the experience, bringing a pair of binoculars with you on the trip is a plus.

The best signs of spring

Naturum Hornborg Lake is located about 40 minutes from Bjertorp Castle and is well worth a visit as the thousands of cranes dance into spring.

Hornborg Lake is one of Europe's most important bird lakes located in an amazing natural and cultural landscape that unites Skövde, Skara and Falköping. There is plenty to see here for those who like birds, or just appreciate beautiful nature and historical sites.

The cranes visit Lake Hornborg usually from the end of February or the beginning of March until sometime in mid-April. Here are the dates that the first crane has been seen at the lake in recent years:
