Hornborga Lake

One of Europe's most important bird lakes located in an amazing natural and cultural landscape that unites Skövde, Skara and Falköping. There is a lot to experience all year round. Hike, cycle, eat locally produced food, visit historic sites and enjoy all the seasons of nature. At Fågeludden, on the eastern side of the lake, you will find Naturum Hornborg Lake. Here you can enjoy the beautiful environment, go on a guided tour and visit the exhibition about the history of the lake and rich bird life.

Lake Hornborg is about 40 minutes by car from Bjertorp Castle.

Trandans & Hiking Packages

Around March and April, about 30,000 cranes cross Lake Hornborg. The Trandance is a unique natural spectacle well worth seeing. One tip is that book our walking package. Lake Hornborg is about 45 minutes from the castle. With the hiking package you get a good bag of food with you on the excursion. After a day in nature, you are welcomed back to the castle to enjoy a four-course dinner, overnight stay and finally a delicious castle breakfast.
